I am thrilled and extremely appreciative of being named 2017 president of RAC, an organization comprised of the best residential appraisers in North America. I am proud to be part of an organization that serves its members, rather than the other way around.
I joined RAC 20 years ago largely because of their high caliber residential appraisers who represented many different housing markets. To be a successful professional, it is always a good idea to surround yourself with the best in your field.
For those of you considering membership in our organization, RAC was founded in 1990 with a groundbreaking legacy of relocation appraisals. Although RAC literally wrote the book on relocation appraising, it is not the only valuation expertise held by RAC members. Today many focus on complex residential assignments such as litigation support, testimony and reviews in addition to relocation.
A few months ago RAC held its annual conference in Dallas and it was the best appraiser event I’ve ever attended over my thirty-year career. It was a collaborative effort, chock full of relevant information for our members and attendees as professionals and helping them grow their appraisal practices. We’ve already hit the ground running since the conference.
I look forward to working with our board, executive director and committee members in the coming year to keep the momentum going.
For an industry comprised of “lone wolves” in a rapidly changing world, there is nothing better than having a “sounding board” you feel comfortable with.
Grow or die. Words to live by.
