Bias in the Real Estate Market

Bias in the real estate market has become a hot topic as many instances have recently been reported.  Learn about how bias has impacted the real estate market and steps you can take to avoid accusations of bias.

 The August 29 Town Hall guest speaker will be Frank Gregoire, IFA, RAA.  Mr. Gregoire has extensive valuation and consulting experience spanning over 46 years, is a Qualified Expert Witness in numerous courts and has taught courses in real estate license law, real estate brokerage and real estate appraisal.  He served eight years as a member of the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board (FREAB), the State Regulatory Agency for Real Estate Appraisers, and was elected as Chairman in 2002, 2007, 2006 and 2007.  In March 2014, Mr. Gregoire was appointed to a two-year term as a member of the Appraisal Subcommittee Advisory Committee for Development of Regulations, and was subsequently named Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee.  Frank was appointed as the National Association of REALTORS representative to The Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees for the three-year term 2020-2022.  In 2023, the National Association of REALTORS reappointed him to a second three year term. Mr. Gregoire is serving as Secretary to The Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees in 2023.

Water-Wise Appraisals: Valuing Water in Real Estate Appraisals

This Town Hall will feature expert presentations and discussions about the current context of water law and valuing water in real estate appraisals.  Participants will learn how water rights and water-wise development strategies impact the value of real estate, and why this is important for the future of water-wise built environments and communities.

 The guest speakers will be Marianne Eppig, Director, Resilience, Urban Land Institute; Jeffrey Friedlander, Senior Vice President, Clarion Partners; and Julie Wilson-McNerney, Of Counsel, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt.
