Interested in Joining RAC

Applicants applying for RAC Membership must meet the following criteria:

  1. Possess a reputation for integrity, honesty, fair business practices and positive reputation as a professional among appraisal industry contemporaries.

  2. Possess a 4-year bachelor’s degree or satisfactory degree substitute or one additional year of licensed or certified residential appraisal experience for each year less than a four-year degree.

  3. Agree to conform in all respects to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

  4. Must be a state certified appraiser.

  5. Complete and submit the RAC Application for Membership.

  6. Membership may be obtained via either of two paths: Relocation Appraisal or Complex Residential Appraisal. Each requires three years of licensed or certified residential appraisal experience. The applicant must have signed the reports as the appraiser. For membership via the Relocation Path, applicants must submit two (2) recent WERC Relocation Appraisal Reports and must have completed the Worldwide ERC© Relocation Appraisal Training Program. For membership via the Complex Appraisal Path, applicants must submit two (2) Complex Appraisals that demonstrate the appraisal and analysis skills involved in litigation support, eminent domain, easement or encroachment analysis, environment damage, property damages and loss, or a unique property assignment that requires an expanded Highest and Best Use Analysis. The Admissions Committee may request additional appraisal reports to be submitted for review. Upon request, the applicant must submit the additional report within 7 days. All submissions will be in a PDF email attachment.

  7. Within the application, the Applicant must submit three (3) references and their contact information. These references must be clients, attorneys, other appraisers or a RAC member who can attest to Applicant’s level of appraisal experience.

  8. Be able to fulfill such other requirements as may be established from time to time by the Admissions Committee or the RAC Board of Directors. Upon the recommendation of the Admissions Committee, the Board of Directors shall make final determination regarding an applicant’s eligibility for membership and decide whether to accept the applicant as a Member or to deny the application.

Membership dues for RAC are $695 per year. These dues are billed annually at the first of the year and prorated depending upon when a member joins. Typically, there is a discount for paying your dues early in the year on an annual basis.
