Our President

This coming year will mark the 34th year RAC has been in existence. It is a great honor to be the President of such a premier appraisal organization and be among the wonderful appraisers that have been and still are members. The fact that RAC members were a part of the Worldwide ERC Appraisal Task Force that authored the current version of the ERC Report and developed the 2011 Worldwide ERC’s Relocation Appraisal Training webinar, shows the caliber of talent we have in our organization; I’m humbled to be among them. It’s been an honor to meet some of the founding members over the years and hear their stories. I tend to find myself in the company of the elders in the groups I belong to. So much can be gained from their stories. Although the industry and procedures are constantly changing, the rationale and analysis doesn’t.
The corporate world and relocation industry is always transforming, and as of late, it can be a whole different process. Because of this, RAC has seen the complex side of our organization increase. More new members are applying using complex assignments. This brings many opportunities for us to grow and adds a whole new dynamic to the membership. Complex assignments vary significantly, from appraising properties on tribal land, to construction defects or even vineyards. The one benefit I’ve always treasured about RAC is the comradery we share and the willingness to help others. When those tough assignments come along, this group is quick to offer their advice and experience. That is truly a treasure!
I’m looking forward to this year in leadership and believe the organization is going to grow with extremely talented people. For those members we haven’t seen in awhile I hope to see you next fall at the conference or on a town hall. It’s so heart-warming to see those familiar faces that have become our friends over the years. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the organization. I truly enjoy being a member of RAC and care about this organization and the members. I will strive to represent RAC to the best of my ability and hope to make you proud.
Sincerely,
Betsy Hughes, SRA, AI-RRS
